We are now offering Certificate III in Horse Care and Certificate IV in Equine Care Courses.

 

Veterinary Nursing Courses

We are excited to announce that we now offer Certificate IV and Diploma courses in Veterinary Nursing!

We are privileged to have Dr. Sandra Ann Baxendell continue at Brisbane College of Australia as the Veterinary Nursing and Animal Technology trainer with over 30 years of knowledge-based management work in the animal industry.

ACM30821 Certificate III in Horse Care

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely in a range of skilled roles in industries involving horses, including stable hand, stud hand, groom, farm hand and rider. These workers may perform ridden and non-ridden horse exercise and prepare horses for events.

Individuals in these roles perform a range of horse care tasks under broad direction which involve discretion and judgement in handling, housing, feeding, routine health care and exercising horses. They take responsibility for their own work, carry out assigned tasks, coordinate processes and tasks, work to schedules, solve problems and comply with animal welfare requirements. Workplaces may include agistment centres, horse yards, stables, event venues, breeding studs, riding centres, livestock sites, equine veterinary facilities and horse education facilities.

After completing this qualification students may gain employment as a horse groom, stud hand or stable hand. Students can also continue studying a Certificate IV in Equine Care.

This course consists of 18 units of competency.

Entry Requirements:

  • Domestic Students: None
  • International Students: IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and high school certificate 

Duration: 

75 weeks

Work placement: 

100 hours

 

 

 

ACM40921 Certificate IV in Equine Care

This qualification describes the skill and knowledge for work activities undertaken by an equine service provider or skilled worker in an equine establishment who provides specialist technical skills. They may work autonomously as small business operators or as part of a management team in an equine establishment.

After completing this qualification students may gain employment as a horse clipper, head groom/lead stable hand, horse fitness and performance trainer, horse educator, horse gear fitter and checker.

This course consists of 15 units of competency.

Entry Requirements:

  • Domestic Students: None
  • International Students: IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and high school certificate 

Duration: 

78 weeks

Work Placement: 

120 hours work placement is required to fullfil the requirements for this course
