ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care 

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for entry level and support roles in the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, boarding/day care facilities, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. 

This qualification provides a pathway to work in the animal care and mangement field. It is also a prerequisite for ther Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

This course consists of 12 units of competency.

Entry Requirements:

  • Domestic Students: None
  • International Students: IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and high school certificate 

Duration: 

26 weeks

Work placement: 

24 hours

 

 

 

ACM30219 Certificate III in Animal Technology 

This qualification is aimed at new entrants to the Animal Technology industry. This qualification is the industry qualification for persons operating at a junior or assistant level and undertaking animal technology functions within a biomedical research or production environment. Work may include day-to-day support and assistance within a veterinary practice or animal technicians in animal science centres or providing care at animal centres.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in the animal technology field as an animal technician, laboratory animal technician, field technician or animal carer.

This course consists of 13 units of competency.

Entry Requirements:

  • Domestic Students: None
  • International Students: IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and high school certificate 

Duration: 

30 weeks

Work Placement: 

30 hours work placement is required to fullfil the requirements for this course

 


 

ACM50119 Diploma of Animal Technology

This qualification is aimed at those seeking to build on their qualifications and experience in animal technology functions and gain a senior or managerial level role involving biomedical research or production environment. It is ideally suited to people who wish to gain knowledge and theory in substantial depth. It is highly recommended that while undertaking this qualification, the learner should have access to an animal technology workplace through either paid employment or substantial periods of work placement or experience.

Upon successful completion of this course students may gain employment as an animal technology manager, facility manager, senior animal technologist, animal house manager, supervising animal technician or gain credit towards graduate level study.

This course consists of 20 units of competency.

Entry Requirements:

  • Domestic Students: High school certificate or highest level of qualification
  • International Students: IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and high school certificate/highest level of qualification

Duration: 

65 weeks

Work Placement: 

100 hours work placement is required to fullfil the requirements for this course
