Early Childhood Course

 

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. They support children’s wellbeing, and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures. They may work independently or under the guidance of others, though in some contexts that guidance may not be on-site.

Successful completion of this qualification may lead to further study such as the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or employment in the child care sector as a Child Care Assistant, Family Day Carer, Nanny, Out of School Hours Care Assistant, Recreation Assistant Teacher Aide, Kindergarten Assistant or Preschool Assistant.

The course consists of 17 units of competency.

Entry Requirements:

  • Domestic Students: None
  • International Students: IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and high school certificate

Duration: 

1 year

Work Placement: 

160 hours work placement is required to fullfil the requirements for this course

 

 


CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

After completing the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, students may gain employment as a Group Leader, Team Leader, Qualified Child Care Worker, Program Leader, Kindergarten or Preschool Assistant, Primary School Teacher Aide, Service Manager or Centre Director in a child care facility, or may choose to go onto further study such as the Advanced diploma of Children’s Services or gain credit towards a university degree such as Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood).

This course consists of 28 units of competency.

Entry Requirements:

  • Domestic Students: High school certificate or copy of highest level of qualification, Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • International Students: IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and high school certificate, Certificate III in Early Chilhdood Education and Care

Duration:

1 year or 2 years (incl Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care)

Work Placement: 

280 hours work placement is required to fullfil the requirements for this course
