Brisbane College of English
Students entering this course usually do so with the general goal of improving their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills for academic purposes, and to reach an appropriate IELTS score for the purposes of entering a university in Australia , or immigration to an English speaking country. The pre-requisite for entering this course is either the satisfactory completion of General English at Intermediate (GE3) or an IELTS practice test score of above 4.5. A score of above 4.5 has been set to allow students unfamiliar with IELTS or of a lower-level English ability the opportunity to increase their competence and reach a band level of 6.5 or above.
We offer two IELTS courses for those who want to achieve a score of 5.5 and those who want to achieve score 6.0 or above.
Preparation for IELTS (Achieve Score 5.5)
The IELTS Preparation course to achieve a score of 5.5 is designed for students at an Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate Level. The course offers short practice activities that aim to build students' confidence by teaching students how to approach different tasks at various test levels, and familiarising students with every part of the test in regular IELTS test practice sections, to increases students’ chance of success.
Preparation for IELTS (Achieve Score 6.0 and over)
The IELTS Preparation course for achieving a score of 6.0 or above is designed for students at an Upper-Intermediate to Advanced Level wishing to maximise their overal and band scores. This course offers short practice activities to familiarise student's with each aspect of authentic IELTS practice test sections in to order to best maximise the student's chance of sucess.
Your placement in these levels is determined by a paper test and oral interview when you enter the school. Level placement is based on your knowledge of English and on your ability to communicate. These scores below are approximate:
